A Taste That Follows You Home

Akshansh Gupta grew up in Ujjain eating sev four times a day — on poha at breakfast, in sabzi at lunch, with chai in the evening. When he moved to Bangalore for work, the sev he found there tasted nothing like home.

So he brought it himself. The Malwa Story is the original sev of Madhya Pradesh. The same recipe, the same kitchen, the same taste, delivered to every sevpaglu in the world.

What Our Customers Say

Finally found the real thing. This tastes exactly like the sev my grandmother used to make in her hometown. Nothing packaged comes close.
Priya R. Bangalore Garlic Sev
Bought it thinking it was like any other sev. First bite and I understood why it has its own name. The cloves hit different. Ordered 3 packs.
Karan M. Mumbai Ratlami Sev
Love that it is 100% besan. You can actually taste the difference. My whole family finished a pack in one sitting.
Ananya S. Pune Ujjaini Classic

Why Our Sev is Different

Sev is not bhujiya. And ours is not like any other sev.

Most people use the words interchangeably. But sev and bhujiya come from different places and different traditions. Bhujiya is a Rajasthani product, thin and lentil-based. Sev is a Malwa staple, made from pure besan and pressed through a die.

Ratlami sev carries black pepper and cloves pressed into the dough. Garlic sev has slow-roasted garlic built into every bite. Ujjaini sev follows the thinner, crispier style the city has made for generations. Each variety has a reason for existing.

We stone-grind our own besan, make small batches, and use the same spice ratios that define these varieties. Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is compromised.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is sev and how is it different from bhujiya?

Sev is a chickpea flour (besan) snack from Madhya Pradesh, made purely with besan, oil, and spices. Bhujiya is a Rajasthani product made with maida and moth bean flour. Many brands label bhujiya as Ratlami Sev because the name sells. Our sev contains zero maida, zero preservatives, and zero shortcuts. If it says The Malwa Story, it is the real thing.

Does your sev contain preservatives or artificial colours?

No. Every batch is made with besan, oil, salt, and natural spices. That is it. We do not use preservatives, artificial colours, artificial flavours, or any additive that does not belong in a traditional sev recipe. The colour and aroma come purely from the spices we use.

Do you deliver across India?

Yes. We ship pan-India. Orders above Rs. 300 ship free. Cash on delivery is available at checkout. Delivery usually takes 4 to 7 business days depending on your location. You will receive a tracking link once your order is dispatched.

How long does the sev stay fresh after opening?

Our sev has a shelf life of 60 days from the date of packaging. Once you open the packet, store it in an airtight container. It stays crisp for 2 to 3 weeks after opening. Since we use no preservatives, we recommend consuming it fresh for the best experience.
